IK’s youth season openers produced plenty of goals. Lian Helgosson and Ture Brink Backskär stood out with a combined twelve goals in two days for Team 11 and Team 12.
Helgosson scored four when Team 11 beat Nybro 13–1, then followed that with a hat-trick in Team 12’s 10–1 away win against Växjö. Brink Backskär scored twice against Nybro and three times against Växjö. Walter Klingberg and Elton Johansson also scored for both teams.
The girls’ A team won their opener against Karlskrona/Mörrum 8–2. Lovis Gross scored four goals, while goaltender Vera Fallebo stopped 18 of 20 shots.
Not every opener went IK’s way. Team 13 lost their first two games, and Team 14’s internal game ended in a 7–6 win for the Red team.
Big opening-game scores should not be overinterpreted, but the players already appearing for both Team 11 and Team 12 will be particularly interesting to follow. Next up for Team 12 are two home games: Kalmar on Thursday and Nybro on Sunday.
