Oskar Drugge is reported to have trained with IK, according to Jesper Hallberg in Barometern's hockey liveblog. Following the announcements about Anton Malmström and Alexander Younan, there is another name to watch. The report concerns training, not a contract with IK.
Drugge, 34, shoots right and recorded 40 points, two goals and 38 assists, in 48 regular-season games for Sønderjyske last season. His 38 assists led the Danish league, according to Elite Prospects.
His latest stint was a short-term deal with Frederikshavn White Hawks. Metal Ligaen reported on 2 October that the agreement had expired after five games. That departure is confirmed; a move to Oskarshamn is not.
A different kind of addition
On paper, Drugge represents experience and puck movement rather than extra size. He is listed at 177 centimetres and 77 kilograms. His production in Denmark makes him interesting, but it does not tell us on its own how he would help IK defensively.
For us, the question goes beyond what he might offer on the powerplay. Could he also bring calmer puck movement and better decisions when the team comes under pressure? That is how a potential addition needs to be judged, not simply by the points column.
