HockeyAllsvenskan’s Players Safety Group has reported Almtuna’s Oscar Pentler to the disciplinary committee following yesterday’s game in Oskarshamn.
The incident under review is the hit on Anton Malmström.
According to the league’s description, Malmström reaches the puck first in IK’s defensive zone. Pentler arrives with speed, does not reach the puck and continues through the situation. The contact is leg-to-leg and knee-to-knee, and the league considers the play to involve a clear risk of injury.
Pentler has been reported for kneeing.
This should be kept separate from the Matt Brown question mark. During the game we also followed the incident in which Brown took knee contact and was not seen in play afterwards. The disciplinary notice published by HockeyAllsvenskan now concerns the Malmström incident.
There is still no confirmed injury information on Brown ahead of tonight’s game against Kalmar.
Anton Malmström is on loan to IK from Björklöven and has made an immediate impact in Oskarshamn: a goal on his debut against Nybro and an assist on Ville Svensson’s 8–2 goal against Almtuna.
Whether the report results in a suspension will be decided by the disciplinary committee.
