We have kept bringing up Miks Indrašis as a possible name to take IK up another level. So far, without any visible reaction from IK, Miks or his agent.
Meanwhile, Mattias Tedenby is without a contract in Jönköping. HV71 brought the 36-year-old forward back on a short-term deal through the start of the season and then offered another six weeks. Tedenby turned it down. HV71 have not closed the door, but there is no full-season solution there right now.
Tedenby is also a former IK player – although only very briefly, in 2008. The Oskarshamn connection is obviously nothing like Manuel Ågren's, but it exists.
This is not a big, heavy forward. What he brings is speed, skill, work rate and a résumé that includes more than 600 games for HV71 and three Swedish championships. Last season he had 8 goals and 2 assists in 48 SHL games.
And it becomes interesting when you put him into today's IK.
Tedenby – Matt Brown – Danny Dzhaniyev?
Or Tedenby – Joel Svensson – Matt Brown?
That would leave Ågren – Engsund – Calle Karlsson intact when Manne is back.
It would not add size and power. But speed? Absolutely. Experience? Plenty. A player who still works and can make things happen with the puck? Yes.
We do not know whether Tedenby is interested in IK. We do not know whether IK are interested in Tedenby. We are not going to pretend there is contact when we have no evidence of it.
But he is in Jönköping, he has turned down another short-term HV71 deal, and he already has a small piece of IK history behind him.
