Axel Nyman is 20 and spending the full season with IK on loan from Rögle. He is a big, calm goaltender, but still fairly untested at senior level. In January he showed his ceiling for Almtuna away to Kalmar, making 45 saves in a shutout through 65 minutes before Almtuna won in the shootout.
Preseason has been more ordinary. He has looked solid without yet taking over games on his own. Our impression is that he has so far been more dependent on the defence in front of him working properly than Emil Vuorio, who has already shown he can rescue a game when the team around him is struggling.
The key question is consistency once the games start to count. We would rather wait until around November before drawing bigger conclusions. The Almtuna game shows the ceiling. Now we need to find out how often he can reach it.
